Our Legacy & Foundation

The origins of YPS Patiala are deeply connected to the historical context of pre-partition India. Conceived as a distinguished alternative to the renowned Aitchison College, Lahore, the school emerged to provide displaced students with an institution of similar excellence and stature.

With remarkable foresight and dedication, Maharajadhiraj Yadavindra Singh brought this vision to life. The school began its journey on 2nd February 1948 with just 21 students and 9 teachers, laying the foundation of what would become one of India’s leading public schools.

Over the years, YPS has achieved several milestones, including becoming a member of the Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC), adopting a co-educational model, and affiliating with the CISCE board further strengthening its academic framework and national standing.
